If you’ve just updated TimePassages on macOS and are wondering where your existing charts went, don’t worry—your charts are not deleted. They are stored in a dedicated TimePassages > Charts folder on your Mac, which does not change when you update the app.
Below are the easiest ways to find that folder using Finder.
Method 1: Navigate Using Finder (Recommended)
Open Finder
In the Finder sidebar, click Documents
Open the TimePassages folder
Open the Charts folder
Path:
Documents → TimePassages → Charts
This folder contains all your saved natal charts, transit charts, and other chart files created in TimePassages.
Method 2: Use Finder’s Go Menu
Open Finder
From the menu bar at the top, click Go
Choose Documents
Open TimePassages
Open Charts
This is useful if your Finder sidebar is customized and Documents isn’t immediately visible.
Method 3: Search for the Charts Folder
If you don’t see the folder where expected:
Open Finder
Click in the Search field (top-right)
Type:
TimePassages
Make sure the search scope is set to This Mac
Open the TimePassages folder, then open Charts
Important Notes About Updates
Updating TimePassages does not remove or relocate your charts
Charts are stored separately from the application itself
Reinstalling or updating the app will not affect the Charts folder
If TimePassages opens but your charts don’t appear immediately, you can always open them manually from the Charts folder using File > Open Chart… inside the app.
Still Don’t See Your Charts?
If the Charts folder is missing or appears empty, it may mean:
Charts were saved under a different macOS user account
Charts were stored on an external drive or cloud-synced Documents folder
Files were moved manually in Finder
In that case, searching for files ending in .chw (TimePassages chart files) can help locate them.
