If your placements are appearing in different houses than expected, follow these steps:
- Check your house system(Settings>Default Chart Settings>House Calculation Method):
- Ensure you’ve selected the same house system you’re accustomed to, such as Placidus, Whole Sign, etc.
- House cusp margin setting:
- If your house system is correct, the change may be due to the house cusp margin feature in TimePassages. This setting moves placements near the cusp of one house into the next house.
- Default behavior in older versions:
- In earlier versions of TimePassages, the house cusp margin was set to one degree by default.
- This meant that if a placement was within one degree of the next house’s cusp, it would appear in that house instead.
- New behavior in TimePassages 3.0:
- The default house cusp margin is now OFF (zero degrees).
- As a result, placements that previously appeared in a different house due to the margin will now stay in their original house.
Example:
If your Mercury was shown in the 9th house because it was within three degrees of the 9th house cusp, it will now appear in the 8th house (its original position) under the new settings.
If your Mercury was shown in the 9th house because it was within three degrees of the 9th house cusp, it will now appear in the 8th house (its original position) under the new settings.
- How to adjust the house cusp margin:
- If you prefer to treat close-to-cusp placements differently, you can adjust this setting:
- Settings > Default Chart Settings > House Cusp Margin > Select from dropdown.
- The default is set to “OFF.”
We’ve kept this feature as an option because some astrologers treat placements within five degrees of a cusp as belonging to the next house. However, the more common practice – and our default setting – is to leave the margin OFF.
