This error message is coming up due to security settings in Windows.
Below are instructions for you to try. Let us know if you still have issues.
Make sure you have TimePassages closed before you attempt the steps.
- Right-click on the desktop icon
- Go to Properties
- Then to Compatibility
- Tick the box that says "Allow to run compatible with Windows 8 or Windows XP, etc.."
- Also tick "run as administrator"
If this doesn’t work, then you can try the following too:
- Go to C: Drive
- Then ProgramData (If you do not see this folder, you may have to adjust the settings under "View" to "View Details" for it to show up)
- for Windows 8: View, to the right...Hidden Items
- If this doesn’t work, follow these steps to display hidden files and folders.
- Open Folder Options by clicking the Start button
- Click Control Panel
- Click Appearance and Personalization
- Click Folder Options
- Click the View tab
- Under Advanced settings, click Show hidden files and folders
- Click OK.
- Open ProgramData folder
- Open TimePassages folder
- Right Click on UserData
- Open Properties
- Click on the Security tab
- Click on User
- Edit Permissions to allow full control
- Click OK
Do the same for the Charts folder by repeating steps 1 & 2. But for Step 3, right-click on the Charts folder and complete Steps 4 & 5.
It is a good idea to restart the computer and then try to load TimePassages.
